We may be biased, but this month we're highlighting ourselves because we think we are being pretty sustainable. This past month, we continued our progress on the Tiny Trees Neighborhood Initiative in partnership with the City of Des Moines and with a grant from Microsoft's Community Empowerment Fund! The first resident to receive a Tiny Tree as a part of this initiative is pictured below!
Who wouldn't love increasing the urban tree canopy, reducing urban heat in the summer months, sequestering carbon dioxide, and improving air quality and greenery for residents? If you are interested in helping, sign up for one of the three aspects of this initiative described below:
Site Analysis: Deciding the location of the tree to ensure space for growth
Planting: Doing the dirty work of getting the tree into the ground
Maintenance: Ensuring the tree has enough water, protection, and is upright so it can grow to be the best tree ever!
