Urban Ambassadors is now accepting nominations for three awards recognizing community leaders in sustainability to be presented at the organization's upcoming Friendraiser, August 24 in Windsor Heights Colby Park.
"So much momentum in Greater Des Moines' sustainability community comes from area residents who volunteer their time to get incredible projects up and running on the ground. We know they volunteer because they care, not because they want recognition," said Bethany Wilcoxon, the organization's president.
"At the same time, it's worth recognizing the talented hard workers we have in our community, and it's important to boost the visibility of their good ideas across town to inspire others," she said.
Three awards are planned to recognize the leaders, projects, and partners that help sustainability succeed in Des Moines on a grassroots level:
- Ambassador of the Year recognizes an individual who went above and beyond to bring the community together around sustainability ideas.
- Project of the Year recognizes successful efforts to educate and engage the community about sustainability topics.
- Partner of the Year recognizes a business, government agency, or nonprofit that goes above and beyond helping community-driven sustainability projects succeed.
One recipient will be chosen in each area, but multiple nominees will be recognized at the friendraiser event August 24. Anyone can submit a nomination online at urbanambassadors.org now through August 12.
